I’ve always loved flying British Airways. I love being greeted by an English accent when I board the plane and you can always count on friendly service and the perfect cuppa tea! I just flew British Airways from Toronto to Nairobi via London heading to Kenya for a safari with Micato Safaris. On my way home, I had a six-hour layover at Heathrow. Six hours? Normally, long layovers make this girl an unhappy traveler. But in Heathrow’s Terminal 5, six hours is the perfect amount of time to enjoy all that this terminal has to offer.

I was fortunate enough to have lounge access during my layover. Both the North and the South Galleries offer travelers a place to relax, enjoy free WiFi, get something to eat and do a spot of plane spotting, a pastime I particularly enjoy. But once you’ve rested up a bit, get out into the terminal and check out the shopping!

Here are a few of the fun things I spied with my little eye while I meandered through the new terminal:

1 Salvatore Ferragamo Nylon and Leather Logo Bow Plated Shoulder Bag
This luxe nylon and leather Salvatore Ferragamo bag is the perfect city chic tote for the girl on the go. AND: Harrods was having a 40% off sale, making this bag an even sweeter find.

2 Boots No 7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour
I found this nail polish the last time I was in Heathrow so on this trip, I picked up a couple more bottles. It’s the best nail polish I’ve used. Goes on easy and dries in a flash.

3 Harrods English Breakfast Tea
I’m a die-hard tea drinker and Harrods English Breakfast Tea is my tea of choice. Packaged in a myriad of different tins and boxes, you may have a hard time choosing just one.

4 Swarovski Double Wrap Bracelet
This wrap bracelet from Swarovski doubles as a choker and is an easy, everyday piece to wear. It features square Jet Hematite crystals on black microfiber and comes in multiple colours.

5 Twirl
Shopping requires sustenance so when you need a jolt of energy, grab a Twirl. Made by Cadbury, Twirl is a Flake-style bar covered in Dairy Milk chocolate. But all you really need to know is that this sweet treat, which isn’t readily available here in North America, is delicious!

6 Fortnum & Mason Piccadilly Biscuit Selection
Fortnum & Mason’s packaging makes their products tough to resist. Tins of beautifully packaged cookies make the perfect gift for friends and family back home.

7 Burberry Spark Cat-Eye Sunglasses
Hit Sunglass Hut on the lower level of T5 for a selection of the hottest sunglasses. This pair of Burberry sunglasses on display at the front of the store caught the eyes of both me and my travel companion – we both bought a pair to bring back across the pond with us!
