If you’ve never heard of social impact travel before, you’re going to start hearing a lot about it. Especially with the launch of Fathom, a new cruise concept from Carnival Cruise Lines.

Fathom is Carnival’s newest brand and with support from its sister brand P&O Cruises, Fathom strives to drive change and make an impact in the world. As part of a movement called Social Impact Travel, Fathom will be making its maiden voyage to the Dominican Republic in 2016 with the goal of helping to build and support communities on the ground there in a very real way.

I am a huge fan of this concept – what a wonderful way not only to see the world but to contribute to communities in need in a lasting and meaningful way.
