Shoes can be a challenge for the constant traveler. If you’re like me and travel with carry-on only, shoes can pose a problem each and every time you haul out your suitcase to pack for a getaway. Running shoes seem to take up exactly half the suitcase. And a pair of heels? They seem to take up the other half. That’s why you have to choose carefully.

I’m a big fan of ballet flats and loafers. Loafers, like the ones I’ve chosen here are a traveler’s worthy companion. Wear these while you’re actually in transit and you’ll be comfortable and quick through security. Who wants to hold up the line, fighting with buckles, zippers and laces? Opt for slip-on shoes and you’ll minimize the headache of getting through security for yourself and the people in line behind you. And no matter where you’re going or what’s on your travel itinerary, a pair of loafers are bound to serve you well. Plus, loafers are typically soft and flexible, making them easy to fit into your suitcase.
