The statement necklace made its debut last year but for spring 2013, this look-at-me piece of jewelry is going to be the star of the show … or at least, of your outfit. Best in bright and bold hues, a big necklace can elevate an outfit from drab to fab and help to punctuate your wardrobe. Throw it on with a pair of jeans and simple T-shirt or pair it with a cocktail dress. Either way, it’s bound to make a statement and may become your signature piece.

I picked up this Joe Fresh necklace (pictured left) a few weeks ago. It’s just the size and colour I was looking for, but even better, at $14, it was sporting the right price tag.

I also love the statement necklace for traveling. When you’re trying to pack light, you can’t always pack those extra dresses that you really want to bring. But with carefully chosen accessories, you can punch up your basics for fun daytime or elegant nighttime wear. Easy to pack and easy to wear. Parfait!

Really loving the candy-coloured strands from Nordstrom. Decent price point, too!

Agreed. The Joe Fresh necklace for $14 is just a steal of a deal too, especially when compared to J Crew’s bubble necklace, which is beautiful but $174.
