Used to be, I could pack my suitcase for a three-week trip in about half an hour and I could fit everything I needed into a small carry-on suitcase. But ever since I had a baby, my carry-on only days are over! I recently traveled with my son for the first time and OMG I had a lot of stuff with me. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I was going to need a strategy and some simple tools to help me stay organized. Hands down, the most useful thing I used was a set of four packing cubes. I’d never used them before but in an attempt to keep my things separate from my son’s so that my suitcase didn’t turn into a black hole where we’d never find anything, I decided to haul them out and put them to the test. They were a lifesaver! I was able to keep everything neatly compartmentalized and whenever I took anything out, I zipped the cube back up so that everything stayed in its place. I’m not sure but I also think I was able to fit way more stuff in my suitcase this way!

I also used lots of other organizing tools, like a makeup bag from Target to keep all of my son’s ‘toiletries’ in one easy-to-find place (nose drops, aspirator, wipes, nail clip, nail file, etc). And another had an assortment of toys that I could quickly and easily locate whenever I needed it.

An unruly suitcase can be completely frustrating, especially when you’re traveling for a long stretch of time (we were on the road for about a month) but simple organizing tools can make all the difference. Here are some of my favourite packing organizers:

1 Royce New York Set of 4 Packing Cubes | 2 Dabney Lee Makeup Bags | 3 Henri Bendel Centennial Stripe Travel Jewelry Case | 4 Brilliant – Carbon Stripe Tech Case | 5 Kate Spade Rambling Roses Souk Kaley | 6 Linen Shoe Bag | 7 Kate Spade Wash and Wear Laundry Bags | 8 Mochi Essential Pouch Collection

    Hi Natalie,

You’re doing a great job with the newsletter! These are all great items. One that I’ve started using recently (after having to take out ALL my cables, chargers, etc. going through security at Schiphol) is a flat 11.8″ by 8.2″ cable organizer where everything is visible already so I just pull it out and plop it in a tray. There are several things like it; I use the UGREEN “large” size. Here’s the link:

    Y’all travel safe!!

Thanks for your comment! And yes, agree that a cable organizer and packing cubes make life easier. I should have started using packing cubes way sooner!
